Rice Krispy Treats

Ingredients:

1 10 oz bag marshmallows

3 Tbs butter

6 cups Rice Krispies

Directions:

Butter a 13" x 9" x 2" pan. Butter a wooden spoon.

In a large, microwave proof bowl, melt marshmallows and butter on high for 2 minutes. Stir. Microwave 30 seconds more, and stir again. Microwave for final 30 seconds and remove bowl. Immediately stir in Rice Krispies with buttered spoon, and transfer to 13" x 9" pan. Press down with wrapper from butter or butter up your fingers and press gently on top to even surface.

Variations:

Get creative! You can use traditional Rice Krispies or Cocoa Krispies.

Work FAST. Butter anything that comes into contact with unset treats - pans, spoons, even your hands. Otherwise it will stick like a big glob. (Fun to eat off your fingers but you really should share.)

Use an 8" x 8" pan for thick treats.

Use a jelly roll pan for very thin treats.

Cut out thin treats with cookie cutters, and decorate.

Cut out 2 thin treats and spread icing or marshmallow fluff between to make a sandwich cookie. Spread ice cream between to make an ice cream sandwich cookie.

Line two round cake pans with parchment paper, butter paper and sides, then press treats into bottom to make giant cookies. Decorate.

Top with home made or store bought icing.

Plain Rice Krispie Treats are delicious but we love to add bits and pieces for more flavor:

Mix in one bag of butterscotch morsels with Rice Krispies.

Mix in one bag of milk, dark, or white chocolate chips with Rice Krispies

Mix in 1 1/2 cups of Reeses's Peanut Butter morsels.

Mix in 1 1/2 cups of M&M's.

Mix in 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
